>One has to ask, did anyone ask Herron to do anything vis-a-vis the GLBT
>community? So far as I know, no one but me ever asked him to do anything
>specific for the GLBT community. If so, what was asked?
>I know that I asked a great deal oif him vis-a-vis the GLBT community and he
>did--and does--all I asked.
I'd be interested in hearing more specifics about this Wizard. What have
you asked Brian to do, and what has he done? I remember that you suggested
on this list that Rep. Walker has other things to do, so she shouldn't be
asked to support sodomy repeal. Is this an example of what you do to ask
public officials to do things vis-a-vis the GLBT community?

>Herron's job is to represent the 8th ward and he's done a good job.
He alienated lots on the 3400 block of Park Av when he pushed the Alley
Turn for Park Avenue Methodist Church..... This church hasn't always been
particularly receptive to neighbors concerns. More than 20 people on the
block signed a petition opposing this alley turn. Brian didn't listen to
that. Instead he sent staff to testify in favor of the alley turn. And
the staff said that part of the reason the Minneapolis Planning Commission
should vote in favor of the alley turn was that a minority contractor was
supposed to be getting the job. Brian has denied this was a factor in his
position on this since, but I remember hearing this from his staff member
at the Minneapolis Planning Commission.

>I also doubt that there are any in the ward who feel he should only represent
>African American issues, but I have heard more often than I care to, that he
>should represent issues which benefit middle class Caucasians to the
>disadvantage of African Americans--luckily, he doesn't do that either.
Nah, Brian just likes to support corporate welfare.... like Stadium
boondoggles.

>The racist and divisive politics of CNIA were practiced by lots of
>folks--including the leadership of CNIA which was tossed out last May. Worse
>yet, it was the class bias exercised by the leadership of CNIA before last
May
>which set people off so bad they were determined to "throw the bums out."
Can you get more specific about this, Wizard? I haven't been particularly
involved with CNIA. I've just gone to some of the dysfunctional family
reunions known as "annual meetings". There are also some special meetings.
