Along the same lines as the gas price increases results in raised
revenues ... so to I believe will cable modems and perhaps even the small
city sales tax I notice on my Qwest bill with DSL subscriptions. What is
happening to that new revenue? How much is it?
Should the city invest in the use of information networks for broad
community content applications and directly connected public access
points? While I'd like to see some investments in the city government web
site specifically, I'd rather see an umbrella effort that pulls together
the most essential government, schools, and non-profit content and
interaction into an advanced community portal.
Are any candidates developing proposals in this area? Are we just going to
use the Internet to goto the world, or are we going to build meaningful
and useful ways for the majority of our local population to also come home
while online?
