A reminder to all residents, business owners and their employees in south and southwest Minneapolis of the MnDot-sponsored informational 'Open House' that will be held tomorrow night, Wednesday, February 28th in the Washburn High School Gymnasium between 6:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. This 'Open House' has been labeled as a residential meeting but I would encourage all business owners with businesses south of 46th Street and East of Cedar Ave in Minneapolis to also attend. Last week, I attended the 'Open House' that was being billed as the informational meeting for business owners and their employees that was held at the Richfield City Hall on Wednesday, February 21st. I was disappointed with the turn out. I do not know if the problem was a lack of announcement on the part of MnDot or a lack of interest on the part of the business community. The only comment that I can make is if I was a business owner in Southwest Minneapolis, I would be vitally concerned about the potential impact that the 35W/62 Crosstown project might have on my business. Yellow post cards were mailed out to residents in the 'effected area'. I would be interested in seeing posts on this list as to how extensive that mailing was. I live south of Bachmans and just west of Peters Billiards (in the Windom neighborhood) and received a card in the mail at the end of last week. Please send me an e-mail off-line letting me know what south and southwest Minneapolis neighborhood you live in and whether or not you have received an announcement card in the mail about this meeting. I would also be interested in information from business owners regarding whether or not they were mailed announcements about last weeks meeting. I can be e-mailed directly at [EMAIL PROTECTED] For those that did not receive the reminder card in the mail, it says: "Here's your opportunity to meet Mn/DOT representatives and get the latest information on the 35W/Highway 62 (Crosstown) reconstruction project. A 20-minute presentation will begin at 7:00 p.m. We'll cover: * Staging information (construction scheduling) * Detours and alternate routes * Charts and maps Wednesday, February 28, 2001 from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Washburn High School Gym, 201 W. 49th Street, Minneapolis" Members from SANITI will be attending the meeting to make observations and to listen to resident's and business owner's concerns and to ask questions so that we have a clearer idea of the scope and depth of work that SANITI can focus on when we hold our next monthly meeting, Tuesday, March 6th at the Windom Community Center, 5821 Wentworth Ave So from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. I look forward to seeing many of you at Washburn High School on Wednesday night.
