Hello--

As the campaign manager for Michael Guest for City Council, I am writing to repsond to
a postcard that hit many 9th Ward delegates mailboxes yesterday.
This postcard in quesiton was based on personal attacks and not the issues at the core
of either the candidates campaigns. The postcard specifically called into question
Gary's support for president in the recent presidential election.
Below, you will find our campaign's response that we mailed to delegates today. We
know that given this unfortunate turn of events, we will still join together tomorrow
for an honest debate on the issues. For the health of local politics, we encourage the
author of the card to step foward and claim his/her work.

Sincerely,
Suzie Overlie
Guest for City Council

Dear Friend,

I have just learned that an anonymous attack postcard (with no legal disclaimer) has
been received by some delegates to our 9th ward convention. This postcard did not
come from me or anyone else in my campaign. I believe anonymous personal attacks
should not be part of any campaign.

For the record: I chose to support Al Gore for President last year. While I
understand the frustration of some other Gore supporters, I do not disparage anyone
else for their presidential choices.

It has been suggested that those who voted for Ralph Nader last year should be barred
from participating in our convention this Saturday. Again, my campaign will not
support this or any other effort to discourage participation.

I look forward to seeing ALL of you this Saturday.

Sincerely,
Michael Guest
