Hi Folks
Just got back from observing the 9th ward convention. Gary Schiff won on
first ballot (135-78 I believe.) I didn't get to talk to enough people to
find out whether that postcard attacking Schiff for his Nader vote
backfired. I would assume that it did. It would be interesting to see the
exact text of the attack postcard. Guest's table did have an endorsement
letter from Scott Dibble on it. There was also a letter from some Nader
supporters on this. I asked a delegate what were the policy differences
between Guest and Schiff. This woman told me she didn't think there were
many differences. She told me she was supporting Schiff because she
thought he was more experienced.
Sheldon Mains had the most brilliant piece of literature. A business card
that had his name, and that he was running for library board along with the
schedule for all the DFL conventions on the inside of the card (it was a
folding business card). That was brilliant, and showed Sheldon knows how
to target his message to his audience. Anyway, I asked Sheldon what he
thinks of internet filters. He gave a good answer, but since Sheldon's on
this list, I'll let him share his thoughts on this issue with the list.
Actually, it would be nice to hear Wizard Marks' ideas on that issue also.
David Brauer had his resolution printed out for folks to look at. I liked
the photo David used as an illustration. The mug of Katherine Harris along
with the comment that "Even Katherine Harris didn't close the voter rolls a
year before the election!!... but in Minneapolis, city DFL delegates were
chosen at last year's caucuses."
