The sad thing is that the police federation could have a PR bonanza and
improve their relationship with minority (and some white) communities if
they just _addressed_ racial profiling. They wouldn't need to lose face
over it. They could say, "Of course we wouldn't do anything unethical or
discriminatory, but there seems to be this perception in some of the
communities we serve, so let's deal with it." As it is, they won't admit
even the perception of a problem.
