Below is part of the official city minutes of last week's T & PW Committee meeting
(3/8).
A number of concerned Phillips neighbors, as well as Tim Springer and associates from
the
Midtown Greenway Coalition, attended this meeting to hear Bob Morgan, City Engineering
Dept., present information about the proposed LRT bridge design changes at Lake St.
that
have caused quite a stir in several neighborhoods bordering this intersection. It was
my
understanding at the end of the public presentations by Mr. Morgan and by Tim Springer,
and CM Q&A's/discussion around this issue, that there was to be a joint committee
meeting
of the T&PW and Ways & Means committees, scheduled for Wednesday, March 21st, at 12
noon,
in City Hall Room 132. Construction work at the Lake St. bridge site is scheduled to
begin
in early April -- just a couple of weeks away -- thus it was thought that a joint
committee meeting was needed in order to deal with this important issue in a timely
manner
before the 3/23 full Council meeting, where a resolution could be presented and passed
on
any additional funding the City would provide (along with the Met Council) to return to
the original neighborhood approved design of the LRT bridge at Lake St.
However, this morning I went to the City's website to check the 3/8 committee minutes
(see
below) to verify the time of this meeting only to find that the date and time have been
changed (see Item 12, bolded). Or at least it certainly looks that way to me. Does
anyone
have any additional information about this important meeting?
