Nazi Germany was before my time. However, thanks to public education and the
fact that there seem to be bi-monthly movie releases about this era, most people
of my generation (Generation X) have a degree of understanding of how difficult
living in that period must have been; individual rights were sacrificed for the
"greater good" of the "nation". In any case, the scene of the Minneapolis
police mobilizing against the world trade protestors ran chills up my spine.
While I know that the Minneapolis police do a good job at a lot of things, this
was waaaaay over the top! I applaud the council members who made an issue of
it, particularly Niland for his leadership role in the issue - we can't allow
that type of behavior, whether calculated or accidental, to go unscrutinized.

What passes for sarcasim in your post doesn't make me smile or think. I
live 2 blocks away from the site of the massive police mobilization
against 180 protestors. I didn't like my daily life disrupted because of
the oxymoronic police intelligence indicated that there would be violent
demonstrations. How would you like to have to hunt for a parking space
because the police needed room to operate. How would you like to pass by
hostile armed cops with guns in their hands?
What was the point of your post?
