I agree with Jenny that a system change needs to take place. The gentleman
from Kenwood talks about welcoming CODE4 in his neighborhood if it was as
dangerous as other neighborhoods. What about the stabbing (fatal) that took
place in the Hollywood Video (on Hennepin between Franklin and 22nd) in May
or June of 1998. That seems pretty dangerous.

The Kenwood gentleman also ignores the fact that white (and rich) privilege
exists in our society. I am white, I have had a car with burnt out
headlights, not working turn signals, and I have never been pulled over
(knock on wood) for these legal violations.

One my zanier ideas that may not be appropriate for this post, but I love it
in terms of equality of justice. Many supporters of the death penalty (I am
not one) talk about how is a deterrent to crime (I don't believe in my
heart). Let us look at white collar crimes, which are usually by people of a
higher means (rich). I see a great deterrent to be to put these white collar
offenders in jail with the general population, not the low security prisons.

It all comes down to equal treatment of citizens in our community. And equal
justice for all. And yes I am an idealist.

One more thing. I realize the police are trying to travel through the most
amount of area in a given period of time. However, when I see a squad car
flash its lights so (when cross traffic is clear) it can avoid waiting any
longer at a red light. It is a poor lead by example.
