This is a Tim Penny connection. Penny was one of Yanisch's co-chairs in her
bid for the Senate and is obviously someone Jesse listens to. Steve Minn may
also have had something to do with it, although I'll let him speak for
himself. Those who kvetch about the Target deal will remember Yanisch, I'm
sure. She's the one who sheparded the deal through the council and then
jumped over to the contractor in charge of it, Ryan. Now she's hopping back
to the political side of the fence. This will indeed be a good thing for Ryan
(or whatever corporate interest she represents when she needs a higher salary
and opts again for the private sector) down the road. What it means for those
ordinary folk Jesse claims, with increasingly less credibility, to champion,
is not so good, I fear.
