DOLLS AT THE RITZ. Mike Anderson reports that the board of Ballet of the 
Dolls finally gave a go-ahead to the long-discussed plan to relocate to 
Northeast’s Ritz Theater. (Building for $1 from MCDA, a $140,000 grant for 
environmental abatement in the works, $75,000 from Sheridan’s NRP. Total 
estimated cost: $2.5 million.

REPUBLICS SAY THEY’RE ALIVE. In response to an editorial last month, letters 
from Steve Sumner and Clive McGovern plus an ad from the Minneapolis 
Republican Committee assert that Republicans are not extinct in Minneapolis.

MPCA FINES GARBAGE BURNER. Mike Anderson reports that a $22,000 fine was 
levied again Hennepin Energy Resources Company, operator of the downtown 
garbage burner, for emission of about nine times the federal limit of 
hydrogen chloride in June of 1999. Problem (a sticky valve) said to be solved.
