The silence on this list about what happened in the 10th ward on Saturday has been deafening. Saturday was such a big for victory Dan Niziolek because he was able to block an endorsement with his hard work, outstanding experience, and strong support from the community. When a candidate is not abiding by the endorsement blocks it; a block is a win. (A big win!) Name me a candidate who has come into a DFL convention as a DFLer, is not abiding by the endorsement, and has no organizational support block a DFL endorsement. (For those of you who say Julie Sabo, she was abiding by the DFL endorsement and had labor support. Not to take anything away from what Julie did, that was an amazing win as well.) Dan Niziolek engaged the DFL endorsement process fully and worked as hard or harder than his opponents. Dan door-knocked a majority of the delegates because he was serious about reaching the delegates and addressing their issues. This is because Dan is active in the DFL and supports DFL values. Dan also has long-standing relationships throughout the community at large due to his years of volunteer and professional leadership. Dan came by his decision not to abide by the endorsement honestly and never ducked the issue. Dan wants to take his message of Commitment to Community to the whole community, not solely those who chose to attend precinct caucuses last year. He is also a candidate who is committed to growing the party once elected, not forgetting about it. I can't tell you how proud I am of Dan personally in this race. He has had every opportunity to be soured by this process in the face of stubborn and arbitrary opposition, but he has remained upbeat and positive the whole time. This is the kind of candidate we can be proud to have as our council member in the 10th Ward. Please join myself and many others who will be working hard for Dan Niziolek for City Council.
