Thanks to Steve Brandt for his response and historical recap.  I agree with
Scott McGerik in being very interested in what's happening in all the cities
and communities in and around Minneapolis.

My question to Steve -- and the Stribune -- is, Why aren't more resources
(i.e., people) devoted to finding and reporting local news?  Why AREN'T
there more of you?

I participated in a focus group last Wednesday about TV political
advertising.  (Interestingly, the group, all from Mpls., included a retired
Stribune reporter.)  One of my comments was that the community papers such
as the SW Journal do a better job of covering local news.  I think everyone
in the group agreed.  The situation is a compliment to the community papers,
but it's a really sad commentary on the Stribune.  And it shouldn't be that
way.  Unfortunately, the other daily paper choice is even worse.
