David Brauer asked for opinions about the debate:

I went to the debate a couple nights ago. It was lots of fun to watch the
candidates interact with each other. Robert Lilligren (8th ward
candidate), Barb Lickness (6th ward candidate) and Natalie Johnson Lee (5th
ward candidate) were there together. That was quite a show. Barb Lickness
had her volunteers carrying signs outside of the building.

There were a few moments where candidates confronted each other. One was
RT Rybak confronting Lisa McDonald for not doing something earlier about
introducing an ordinance to prohibit phosphorous lawn fertilizers in the
city. Another was the discussion of racial profiling. Lisa McDonald
started off stating she thought that codefor should have been better
planned and thought out, to make sure it didn't encourage racial profiling,
and that Minneapolis was way behind St Paul on this issue. Sharon Sayles
Belton came next, and said that Lisa McDonald was absolutely wrong about
her record on this. I can't recall Sharon's exact words, but it was clear
she was angry. RT followed with some additional criticism of the mayor's
record on this issue.

I wish I'd thought of this question to ask all the candidates -- especially
the mayor -- will you participate between now and the election in the
Minneapolis Issues forum -- which is open 24 hours a day, and with a
constant assortment of noble freethinkers to debate with, defend your
record, sharpen your proposals and basically share your vision of the city
with. I appreciate RT's and Lisa McDonald's long time participation in
this forum. I hope the other candidates: the Mayor, Stenglein, and the
gun shop owner (what's his name?) will join in.
