Thank you to Dennis Schapiros's acknowledgement of the
growing clout of the Stonewall DFL in Minneapolis
politics.
I agree that Patrick Peterson's victory was quite
remarkable. Stonewall DFL was proud to endorse Patrick
and we are excited that he and his team did so well.
In fact, we are pleased as punch that so many of our
endorsed candidates have emerged victorious at this
year's DFL ward and city conventions. For a complete
list of our endorsed candidates, visit us online at
www.stonewalldfl.org. (Might I add that Tracy Scott
did a fine job siezing DFL endorsement as well.)
However, it seems to me that Peterson is not the first
city-wide candidate that the caucus leveraged. We
needn't look back too far to see other city-wide
trailblazing candidates aided by Stonewall DFL: Wally
Swan(Estimate&Taxation)and Rod Krueger(Library) both
are openly gay, strongly supported by Stonewall and
running for re-election this year.
2001 presents an historic opportunity to really
experience the capacity of Stonewall DFL and the
broader GLBT community. With four strong openly gay
City Council candidates and a longer slate of folks on
all independent boards, the excitement has just begun.
I welcome more comments about these fabulous trends.
