And the muck rolls on.
I'm out of here for a couple of days with the Dalai Lama. Will patiently
wait to return to my hundred messages you all generate in the next two days
still dissecting the weekend's event.
I still can't get over no mayoral presence at MAY DAY. What is that about?
Doesn't every city wide candidate go wherever there are more than two
people gathered - much less 30-40,000?
Hats off to the e-list table - I just loved that computer architectural
model of the city on the table - that was awesome! Thanks to whomever got
that together.
Does anyone think this is fun yet? I just want to mention a word here
about political money. I have heard a lot about the expense of running
these citywide campaigns for mayor (1/4 to 1/3 a million dollars) and we
have lots of other citywide positions where people are going out on
grassrotots shoestring budgets. As a person who generally has tried to
always spend less than $5,000 and last election without the DFL endorsement
spent about $3,000 and was still about 10,000 votes behind the mayor and
the top vote getter in the Park Board race - I just want to say it is not
about the money - it is about the people.
It's that old line about kissing babies, cutting ribbons, shaking hands and
asking people how they love their parks (or city) - and that my friends is
what it is all about (IMHO). But what do I know?
For the moment,
