As a libertarian I believe that gambling, as a victimless (or self-victimizing)
crime should be legal. The state and the society are inconsistent in their
regulation or criminalization of gambling. Horse racing, poker, pull-tabs,
scrach-off and lotteries are all legal in MN. Not to mention the casinos
on Indian land and workplace basketball pools. To chastise two individuals
for gambling in public seems rather unfair and prejudicial. Is it possible
that this attitude might stem from our tendency to apply standards
according to class boundaries?
