According the historic marker, the first "Central Station Hydro Electric"
plant was on the west bank of the Mississippi in 1882.  It could be the
Paterson facility was not a "central station" (whatever the official
definition of that is). It could also be the MN Historical Society (and the
IEEE) are wrong.
