I also attended the Green Party convention. I thought that the way the
mayors race ended was extremely interesting. Jeff Booty was very delightful
and outragous as he pointed out the he would be extremely high profile as
mayor....an understatement indeed, though I don't really see any
similarities between Jeff and Charlie Disney. He definately was a factor in
the no endorsment outcome. I think he came in second, but I could be
mistaken. There were some aspects of the convention that seemed unusually
contentious, but as I've said before, city politics is new to me. It's now
interesting to note that Booty is the only Mpls Mayoral candidate with a
party endorsment as he is endorsed by the Grassroots Party. I'm glad to see
that there are alternatives to the usual slate of local career politicians.
I've also heard that the Socialist Workers Party has a candidate for mayor
in St. Paul. It's good to see the minor parties getting involved.
