As one who attended Juneteenth, both the parade and the festival, I
generally was sitting at the Green Party booth that was across the street
from the RT booth. RT and Lisa along with the Mayor were in the parade.
Mark Steinglein drove around the parade grounds in a car with his signs
plastered on the sides. Other politicos included Greg Gray, candidate's
Natalie Lee Johnson (5) and Brother Shane Price(3) of the Green Party. The
person I thought most obviously missing (although I didn't get around the
whole festival area) - was Council president Jackie Cherryhomes (in her own
ward).
In just another sidelight I had occasion to be on the north/northeast side
of town several times yesterday and last night. Interestingly enough there
are lots of Steinglein signs (new gold, blue and white signs) up all over
the place - it wil be fun to watch when he will break the north-south wall
and get signs south of downtown& Hwy 94. I've been hearing about various
candidate's as they are preparing their lawn signs (ordering 500 & 1,000
for ward and park board races). My prediction is the lawn sign war will
kick in the weekend after filing closes on July 17th and the "lawnsign war"
will be very intense. I also hear that Ward 10 will be the ward that will
spend the "oodles and oodels" of money to win a seat - in the range of
$50-75,000 (about the same as the first year's salary) - what a prize.
