So I get home last night and there is a message to
call Ted Muller.

Now I don't know Ted Muller from a bale of hay, nor
him me I expect.

I try the number. An answering machine says "this is
the Lake Street Council, blah, blah, blah..."

I'm intrigued.

I call today, introduce myself. Of course he says "let
me see why I was calling you" confirming he doesn't
know me from a bale of hay.

"Oh here it is", he says. "you're running for Mayor?"

"Yes I am, thank you" I say, thinking to myself it's
nice to be taken seriously. That's two invites now.

"Well, we, the Lake Street Council and the Southside
Rotary would like to invite you to a Mayoral debate on
September 20th."

Now I'm beginning to wonder if this is a joke. Is this
some come-on. Where's the box of steaks, Mr Corporal?

"September 20th?", I say. "That's after the primary.
You would think it would make more sense to have it
before?"

"Well, we've had some problems getting people to
schedule it in", Ted says.

"Some problems? Who couldn't make it?", I ask.

"Well the Mayor!"

At this point I started laughing uproariously,
feigning humor as I seethed seeing the hypocrisy of it
all.

"I guess she doesn't want anyone else to raise their
name recognition", Ted says.

Hey, who can blame her.

Then Ted and I joke a bit and he says "well, whatever
the outcome of the primary, I hope you'll come to the
debate."

"I will" I said, "and the first question I'll ask is
why the firetruck is this debate tonight instead of in
July or August, Madame Mayor."

This just makes me want to see Her Gutless Stage
Managed P.R. Primped Incompetent Honourable Self The
Mayor go down in flames even more.
