There are also many Gay libertarians, and libertarians support the concerns
of Gays as individuals. Historically since Gays have been victims of
governmental excess -- police raids of gay gathering places, etc.,
historically what gays have pushed for was to be let alone by government.
Many gay people are realizing that the private sector is ahead of
Government in alot of areas. The private sector -- NOT government took the
lead in offering domestic partner benefits for example. Strict
libertarians tend to oppose anti-discrimination laws and hate crimes laws.

The GLBT press is also beginning to realize that the Gay community has a
diversity of political thought -- and it's not all to the left.

I'd agree that Lavender has abysmal local political coverage. Mark Kasel
did good political reporting years ago, but I haven't seen his work in the
paper for years. However I've seen many blatantly anti-Republican articles
in Lavender (some by Karen Louise Boothe, who works for the DFL). At the
same time, it's nice to see columns by Paul Varnell (who also publishes in
the Independent Gay Forum). Other cities -- the Southern Voice in Atlanta,
and the Washington Blade in DC have much better political reporting in
their gay papers.
