I suppose it was too much to expect there would be no response to the
provocation.

Now, however, let's really drop the issue of the 2000 presidential
election from the list.

Next time, if someone violates the rules mandating a local focus, I hope
all members will resist the temptation to respond. It only keeps us off
the local focus everyone agreed to as a condition of their membership.
