I wish both sides would consider the many voters who are more concerned
about issues than they are about parties. People who work for their
political party often work incredibly hard, and I think that gives them
a huge amount of loyalty. That's probably a good thing for them and for
their parties, but they need to remember that there are a large number
of voters who may favor a particular party but don't share that kind of
loyalty.

If the Green party is going to thrive in Minneapolis (and I fervently
hope it does) it needs to appeal to more than core group of people who
can be relied on to vote for a candidate because he or she is Green. If
the DFL is going to be a healthy political party that continues to
attract hard-working, involved people, it needs to accept the existence
of an active competition.
