The quote on the Mayor's website is an accurate quote from the Wellstone:

"What does U.S. Senator Wellstone say about the mayor?

"Mayor Sharon Sayles Belton has worked tirelessly for the people of
Minneapolis. Speaking
personally I know she has been a strong advocate for Minneapolis at the
state and national
level. Her efforts have paid off with safer streets, stronger community
schools and healthier
neighborhoods. What's more Sharon's leadership has improved Minneapolis
for all of it's
   citizens. "

   Wellstone adds,

"Mayor Sharon Sayles Belton is one of the strongest and most committed
DFL public officials
in the state. She's always there when we need her."

Quoting from the script with accurate quotes from Wellstone:

Senator Wellstone said: "Mayor Sayles Belton's efforts have paid off
with safer streets,
stronger community schools, and healthier neighborhoods."

The script says nothing else about Mr. Wellstone.

I don't know if people were looking specifically for the words "I endorse"
anywhere here but it seems to me that Wellstone's position is pretty darn
clear from his own words.

If Mr. Lillehaug's concern is over the website button labeled
"Endorsements," it seems pretty clear that the word "endorsement" fits
accurately what Mr. Wellstone's words say. The definition of "endorsement"
from Mirriam Webster:

    Main Entry: endorsement
1 : the act or process of endorsing

    Main Entry: endorse
    Inflected Form(s): endorsed; endorsing
1 a : to write on the back of; especially : to sign one's name as payee
on the back of (a check)
in order to obtain the cash or credit represented on the face
2 : to approve openly <endorse an idea>; especially : to express support
or approval of
    publicly and definitely <endorse a mayoral candidate>

Now I'm not a lawyer like Mr. Lillehaug but plain language says that the
button was accurately labeled.

Mr. Lillehaug's post is attached.

> I checked my facts (first-hand) before my last post, and I know for a fact
that Senator Wellstone has not -- repeat, has not -- endorsed Sharon Sayles
Belton. My understanding, second-hand, is that the Belton website has now
been revised, although I see that the Wellstone quote still comes up when
the "Endorsement" button is clicked.
>
> The question now is whether the false claim of endorsement has been used
in GOTV calls. If so, the offending campaign should disclose the number of
calls with that script, make remedial calls, and issue a public disclaimer.
If this race is close, it would be unfortunate if victory were secured
through a misrepresentation. A last-minute, false claim of an endorsement
from our senior senator is not a minor matter.
