    Wizard, would it be too much trouble for you to examine your 
assumptions once in a while to see if they fit the facts? The Army
has changed a lot since Vietnam. The grunts in the ranks of the 
infantry tend to be suburban white kids these days, whereas 
their sergeants and junior officers are Latinos or blacks. The 
exception to this pattern, of course, is the National Guard,
which in these parts is whiter than Casper. None of this is
terribly new, either: the Wall Street Journal had a front-page 
article on the changing ethnic composition of the Army last 
year. As for the Guard, did you ever stop to think that there
might be a reason why most of the armories are outstate or
in the suburbs? Granted, there is one in Nordeast, but I think 
that's the exception that proves the rule.
