Nice ward-by-ward mayor's chart from the Strib:
http://www.startribune.com/stories/462/693123.html
Interesting data:
RT beat Lisa even in the 1st Ward, where she had a campaign headquarters
and was expected to do well. RT also beat Lisa in the 4th ward...so much
for Lisa's Camden strength.
I was told the Rainville clan (4th ward powers) supported
Stenglein...yet Sharon won the 4th.
6th Ward candidate Dean Kallenbach has been linked to the
Sharon/Cherryhomes camp (mostly through Rick Stafford on Sharon's
side)...yet Sharon won the 6th and Dean finished second (pending
recount). Had Dean held Sharon's votes he would have won the 6th in a
walk.
Lisa won her home ward (the 10th), but only 37 percent to RT's 34
percent. Four years ago, Lisa won the 10th ward in a contested race by
16 points.
It's Loud, We Vote: RT's dominance of the "airport wards" - 11, 12, and
13 (plus his relatively strong showing in 10th) - assured his win. This
may explain why the "conservative" 12th went his way...and the Hwy. 55
factor may also come into play. But is the "ROAR" factor maxxed out in
the primary?
RT won 6 wards (2, 7, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13), and in only one the major DFL
council candidate did not endorse him after the primary. That makes 9th
ward heir apparent Gary Schiff's "no endorsement" especially
interesting.
