Okay, back to the local sport..

A few weeks ago, some brave, but misguided souls predicted that Sayles-Belton would not make it past the primary and they also concluded that Brock was irrelevant in the 8th ward.  Now, with the numbers in, no doubt they’ll give credit to the ever feared “DFL MACHINE”.  I’m still looking for it.

Here’s what I know.  The Brock campaign focused its paltry resources in the places where it counted.  I’m surprised at how many people are surprised that the surprise candidate surprised all of them with her surprise finish. OOOPS!!!  Further, an incumbent Mayor that can’t finish in the top two, in spite of some of the issues, probably  didn’t deserve to be Mayor.  And, as I said, we’ll have a new council person out of the 10th.

Let the games begin.

Twice as many people will come out for the general than the primary.  The informed, the party loyaltists and the political junkies vote in primaries.  Joe Blow votes in the general.

So, what’s a winning strategy for an embattled incumbent and the former aid turned candidate?  Clearly, neither is prepared to roll over.

Finally, the bonus points goes to the person who can come up with the Johnson-Lee victory course in the fight for the fifth.  CLUE: New voters.

What are your thoughts?

Louis
