Since RT Rybak is on this list, it would be nice if he would pledge here to
avoid this "you are either with me or against me" type campaign. It would
ofcourse be good for the Mayor to avoid that same type of campaign. I find
it ironic that Lisa McDonald was criticised in a very devastating way by
David Brauer and Lynnelle Michelson on this list for precisely this
attitude. Wizard Marks referred to Lisa McDonald as "nasty" and
"venomous". MA called her a white supremacist and fascist.
Gary continues:
This list is no longer a place to discuss policy. It has become a place
to trade rumors and insults. I'm sure even if I were to announce who I am
voting for for City Council President, someone here would start a rumor
that I have changed my mind a week from now and we would all be back to
square one. I'm bowing out of that game right now. My constituents are always
free to call or write me, but interestingly, no one in the Ninth Ward has
asked me about the mayor's or the council president race in the past week.

EY: Gary, I think that's a copout, and I think you know it. It's taking
the marbles home and going home because everything isn't going your way.
As I recall from earlier discussions on the list (look in the archives),
Russ Peterson defended Gary Schiff on the list against claims by David
Finke that Schiff had Jackie Cherryhomes' support. I am not a 9th ward
constituent, but I know there are a number of 9th ward people on this list.
If you said onlist what your position on the council president was, then
it would be hard for others to start a rumor otherwise -- because people on
the list would correct those who start those rumors.
Also I would encourage Gary and other candidates to share their policy
proposals here. The audience of 600 or so beats the numbers that come to
most candidate forums.
