Thanks for posting info about replaying this mayoral debate. I'm
wondering what the chances are that MTN could someday acquire a channel
on the public broadcast spectrum for community related programming. Or
would this be impossible for obvious reasons including prohibitive costs
and/or competition from every municipality in the metro area? Can you
shed some light on this for me?
If I understand correctly, the City of Minneapolis was granted a certain
percentage of available cable channels for it's use way back when Rogers
Cable(?) set up as the exclusive cable provider in the city. These
channels are considered a valuable public resource. However, when in
order to access this public resource one must subscribe to a private
cable service (costing at least $40/mo.), it seems like we being
snookered.
I canceled my cable service this summer to cut down on time wasted
channel surfing, and recover money lost... (What!?! I'm paying you to
deliver advertising into my home, in return providing myself as a
product you can sell?!?) for more fun stuff. What a breath of fresh air!
I miss the stuff on MTN though.
Remember, like AOL-TimeWarner says... "Digital Cable is not just
television, its a lifestyle."
