Apparently congratulations are in order to Greg Abbott
for brokering a deal on the 53rd and Lyndale project.
I don't know if Nikki traveled from Linden Hills to
attend the lunch meetings and saw all of the
communications involved in this brokering of a deal,
but apparently she did because she is able to tell us
that "Everything Greg tells us is TRUE.
If there indeed is a "deal," (and it remains to be seen if there is) then it can only be fair to say that MANY people were involved in brokering it. Lets start with the neighbors who began meetings with LWP back in May and continued throughout June and July; and then the hundreds of people who have made their voices heard in the meetings at Annunciation (August) and the Lynnhurst Community Center (September); and the numerous people who have written and called the Lynnhurst Neighborhood Association with their thoughts; and the business owners who have made their concerns known; and editorials and articles in the Southwest Journal and Strib; and Barret Lane and his staff who have encouraged a process in which all people have had a voice.
Many of these people have invested countless hours of their time in meetings, phone calls and emails -- whose concerns from the very beginning were 1) the size of the project, 2) parking issues, and 3) condemnation of properties. So if there indeed is a deal, then lets give credit to ALL of the people who invested in this process. This has been a community effort with all parties coming together to find a solution (if one has actually been found). In all of this no one person stands taller than any other and to claim such to my mind is an unfortunate discounting of the efforts and participation of the community at large.
