Remember: our rules allow pointed disagreement, but require respectful discussion.

You know there is a difference between criticism and just being mean.
I am greatly disturbed by the hateful attitude demonstrated by some people on this
list. I am not
talking about race here or some other form of prejudice. Just the hate some people
have for elected
officials and candidates they do not support.
Furthermore, it is absolutely disgusting that some people seek to use what has
happened in New York
and Washington to launch another hateful tirade against the Mayor and others they do
not like. A
reminder that the acts of terrorism on the East Coast are the result of hate and I
would have hoped
that some would have stepped back to recognize that we do not need more of it.
Sharon Sayles Belton, Jackie Cherryhomes, etc... these are all people who have
dedicated their
professional careers to public service. You may disagree with them on issues but
respect the fact
that they ahve chosen to be public servants.
Tomorrow morning I will be on an airplane goinf to Texas for a National Board meeting
of Stonewall
Democrats. I have been raising funds to help cover the costs and yesterday I received
a donation
from a longtime friend who currently works for Mayor Norm Coleman. He and I disagree
on a lot of
things but he is still my friend.
Lets try to recognize that disagreement on political issues is not and should not be
personal.
