The below item about Zero Population Growth scoring Minneapolis as being
the 3rd most "kid-friendly" city in the country must be a gag, right?

First, ZPG wants less kids around, basically. I suppose they want the
kids who are around to be happy, healthy, and well-educated, but it
seems odd for a population-stabilization organization to be ranking
kid-friendliness.

Second, if a major city in the Twin Cities area is to be graded
kid-friendly I would think St Paul has a better shot at the title than
Minneapolis. I thought St Paul was doing better with their achievement
tests and school accountability measures, for instance. Other factors
might be related to health, crime impact, and stable family situation,
though I don't know the comparitive stats.

But I do know that for kid-friendly institutions St. Paul beats us hands
down. What does Minneapolis have to match such things as: Como Zoo,
Science Museum of Minnesota, Historical Society--History Center, and the
Childrens Museum. St. Paul also has the Capitol and the Landmark Center
to visit. I think of Minneapolis' cultural attractions as being more
for high-culture, prosperous adults. Kid-friendly--NOT.
