Remember: our rules allow pointed disagreement, but require respectful discussion.
--

Dear members:

Thank you very much for the support. I have not always done the best job
of encouraging list members to police each other with non-threatening
reminders, etc., but I do appreciate the show of support here. Now cut
it out and get back to Minneapolis issues! <grin>

In the last few days I have expelled two members and removed third who
was spamming the list. Over the three previous years, I have only
removed three members. I have resisted expulsion because it is the
ultimate step, but over time I feel a few members have taken advantage
of this to drag discourse down.

I want to remind list members that disagreement, even about the most
sensitive issues, is welcome here. However, insults and inflammatory
rhetoric is banned in the interest of keeping people with different
viewpoints here.

I continue to believe we can discuss and disagree without such insults
and overwrought rhetoric. It's up to you to police yourself. But if this
doesn't work, I will continue to apply the rules to make sure
Minneapolis-Issues is a place for respectful debate.

Thanks again to everyone who has stayed and helped. I deeply appreciate
your patience.]

Now let's stop discussing the list and get back to what we are here for!

Sincerely,
David Brauer
List manager
