>...we need to be asking what SHARON is providing in >return for the STONEWALL endorsement?
The sad part of this is very little or nothing -- except for the agreement not to run against a DFL endorsed candidate. RT and Lisa McDonald both aggressively courted Gays and Lesbians. Michael Kraus resigned his position in Stonewall when the group at first didn't have the courtesy to give RT and Lisa McDonald acceptable ratings. However, I've always thought public employee union endorsements -- and that includes police and fire fighters are troubling. Unions defend employees -- like the thumber Mike Sauro -- and sometimes defend the indefensible. They also negotiate salary, benefits and working conditions for their members. What is in the interest of the Union members who work for the city isn't always in the best interest of the taxpayer. It's a reasonable question to ask RT what he's done for Police Union endorsement -- and will he stand up to the Police Federation when he needs to as mayor. What will he do with a Mike Sauro type situation? What will he do to prevent the incidents where police shot and killed a mentally ill woman? I appreciate him answering quickly on this list the questions about this. Vickie Brock should take some notes here. RT is giving a good example of how to deal with hardball questions from constituents that are posted to the list. When she was asked about the latest news about Herrongate, all she needed to say was the courts are dealing with this and it would be inappropriate for me to comment. Instead both her campaign managers decided to post on the Central Chat list that Vickie is ordered NOT to answer any questions that come from Eva Young -- and not to return calls from Eva Young. I found that rather odd. It also reminds me abit of that nice song from Pinefore -- "I always voted my party's call and I never thought of thinking for myself at all." Instead, we have campaign managers -- Louis King and Matthea Little Smith posting on Brock's behalf. So the question is -- are these campaign managers managing Brock's campaign -- or managing her?
