I would like to respectfully ask members to refrain from labeling or
characterizing other members. While not always a rule violation, it gets
personal pretty quickly and usually leads to trouble, which we've all
experienced quite a bit of until recently.

Critiquing and labeling arguments, without being nasty, is of course our
stock in trade.

Related question: RT Rybak, back on the forum in a big way, has posted three
times today answering members' questions. This represents an embarrassment
of riches, but also a rules violation. Given that he is the subject of these
threads, it seems a bit cheesy to ask him to post some other time.

Could members email me directly (and briefly) at [EMAIL PROTECTED] about
whether they support or oppose a rules modification allowing candidates
unlimited to response to comments/questions from the forum? The basic idea
is that a candidate could only exceed the two-post-per-day limit to respond
to a criticism or question.

If you feel this is biased in favor of RT, or would clog your in-boxes, or
is too late in the election season to implement - or whatever - I'd like to
know. If you think it would improve the forum, I'd like to know too.

I will bow to majority rule on this one, given my previous support of the
candidate (though the rule would be open for all city candidates).

Again, email me OFF-LIST at [EMAIL PROTECTED], or hit reply to this
message.

Thanks,
David Brauer
List manager
