So, I've heard alot of people say they have tried to call the 8th ward council office lately, and the standard answer if you ask for Vickie Brock is "She's out in the Ward".
Does anyone know what Vickie has been up to "in the ward"? I suppose there are meetings and things from time to time, but aren't most neighborhood meetings in the evening anyway? Is Vicky acting as council person since there isn't one? I thought Dore Meade was doing that. Now that there's no council member for the 8th, who actually is paying attention to attendance? How would the city know, for example, if the aid was out in the ward doing something like campaigning or even just sleeping late. Yeah - incumbants probably campaign on our time since there's alot of grey areas there - but Vickie is staff, not an existing office holder. Are there guidelines? I've heard state employees are allowed to take a paid leave of absence to campaign - what about city employees? Anyone know? It just doesn't seem right to me.
