Good Morning

YOUR ATTENDANCE IS REQUESTED

Tuesday, October 23rd the Minneapolis Board of Education has scheduled
their board meeting in the Longfellow Neighborhood at Cooper Community School,
location, 3239 44th Avenue South.

Purpose:  The purpose of the meeting is discussion concerning viability and solutions for very small schools.

Time - 7 - 8:30 p.m.

If you are supporter of smaller learning environments and or would like to shape the
future of these community schools, and small learning environments, or believe in public schools whether you have children or not.   This SPECIAL meeting is yours to speak to the board.

I am particularly encouraging citizens from the South area who attended any of our community schools to briefly share their story or experience and bring your ideas and solutions for the river schools in our area.   We have several smaller community
schools, Longfellow, Cooper, Hiawatha, and Howe.  Come share your
ideas, solutions, and to come out and support our smaller community schools.  Longfellow also has several other schools we welcome our friends from
Ann Sullivan Communication Center and Dowling and Sanford.  All for one and one
for all.   I personally would welcome even our alternative school, and Academy friends if you have a free night.  Education is a shared responsibility in my opinion.

As a citizen of Minneapolis, who does not have children, I  "love" my community schools.   For example, as I drive by the schools in morning, the charm of the old 1920 style architecture compliments our neighborhoods and house stock.  Although it is true many could use a little "color" in the next coat of paint and some sweat
equity in building glorious gardens of all kinds to surround the grounds which can be used for more than one purpose, working the soil, environmental, or an educational
tool are a few.

Hopefully I may have "hooked" or peaked your interest,  is some small way.
Please do come out and show your support of our small "community" schools.

The health of our schools, the ability for community to find small or big ways to
support our schools, volunteer, or shape their future in any creative way you can is
important for the Minneapolis and America.

We all have seen the renewed support in "What it means to be American"   Public
education is one of the institutions that to me is what it means to be American
in part.

Let us all provide opportunity for the children of today and those who have not
graced our earth.

I look forward to seeing (and greeting) you and when you arrive tell us that you are a reader of Minneapolis Issues and just came our to support public schools
and public education.  We thank you.
