I don't know what possessed the headline writers but
they sure didn't offer any encouragement to the chosen
ones by calling the aggregate group, "uninspiring". 

That was an unfortunate (and unfair) comment and I
think it reflects a troubling disconnect between the
editorial decisionmakers from civic life and the
community.

I'd like to see the editorial folks out cold-calling
their non-voting neighbors to engage them in a
dialogue on issues, or asking their friends for one
last contribution to keep a campaign solvent.

The mere fact that these and the other candidates are
willing to put themselves forward makes them all
winners.
