I have to say that Megan and David are right, while opening an email with maniacal laughter is great for dramatic emphasis, it is not respectful communication, and as a member of this list who appreciates the decorum, I must respect the rules. And I have the integrity to admit my shortcomings and when I've crossed the line. Therefore, I formally apologize to the list in general and to anyone specifically who was offended.
To suggest that this is some type of "electronic revenge", however, indicates how little one knows about my personal committment to the neighborhoods and the issues, and further minimizes the importance of the issues that were raised. I raise the questions I do because both of these candidates are attempting to represent the community I live in and care about. Disregarding the issues because one doesn't like how it's phrased is disingenuous. Facing questions is part of the parcel when one runs for office. And unfortunately, I have a board meeting in Atlanta on Friday and won't be able to attend the forum Thursday evening. I am perhaps harder on Mr. Kallenbach because of the conversations I've had with him and others close to him that indicate a lack of experience, lack of committment, and a lack of purpose in my opinion. I care too much about my community to have it simply "given" to someone selected by powers that be. Neither doorknocking nor one long overdue post on this list substitute for building sustained, meaningful relationships with organizations representing people of color and the communities of color themselves. But I believe wholeheartedly in integrity and committment. If Dean K begans to come out to the community events and forums (not just the politically advantageous ones), if he takes a stand on the issues and follows through, if he does the things that he has promised with integrity, I would avidly support him.
