Lynn Levine's passions are clean water, youth, and
open public process. She will work for a wider range
of supervised park programs and fair pay for park
workers, and to honor neighbors' wishes to preserve
the unique nature of each city lake.
She opposed development in the Ewing wetlands and
removing trees from Fair Oaks Park. If Lynn had been
on the Park Board two years ago when the decision was
made to trade hundreds of Minnehaha Park's old trees
for pavement, things would have gone differently.
LYNN will work to
Clean up our lakes and preserve the unique nature of
each.
Protect green space, including no more tree loss.
Bring grassroots democracy into Park Board process.
Expand and diversify youth recreation programs.
Lynn Levine stands for-
Preservation and acquisition of parkland- which saves
money and is ecologically wiser than expensive
experimental mitigation projects.
Common sense, low-tech, preservation-oriented
solutions-instead of undertaking big projects at high
costs, often recommended by the very engineering firms
that stand to profit.
Lynn Levine will work to-
Support and augment the work of existing agencies that
protect our water.
Protect groundwater-keep our water clean and free from
chemicals and runoff.
Give our children choices-good recreation programs are
one of the most important ways to cut down crime.
Given good, sane, safe alternatives, children will
usually choose them.
Lynn Levine has a B.S. from New York University and an
M.A. from Ohio State University. She has worked in the
Minneapolis public schools since 1969 as a
psychologist, social worker, and teacher. Lynn has
worked in collaboration with park personnel in
restorative justice and victim/offender mediation. She
is a member of the Preserve Camp Coldwater Coalition,
as well as a foster mother.
