Ed - Impact Printing is a very well known union printer in this area.  They have been around for quite a while, and are a full service union print shop.  Lots of people have used them -- for example, the DFL sample ballots were printed by Impact printing.

So what happened here?  Well, I'd guess that it is what is commonly called a mistake.  Probably the printer forgot to add the union bug to the design, or the candidate forgot to remind them to add the union bug, or both.  Hey, mistakes happen in campaigns, given that it's all done by volunteers and usually done in a rush.

But being in the 12th ward, I can assure you that:
        - Sandy Colvin Roy's lawn signs (and I think all of her printing) was done in a union shop.
        - Sandy Colvin Roy has pretty much all of the union endorsments in this election.

Subject: [Mpls] union label

A few days ago, my wife and I were out for a walk, and we passed one of
the new(ish) Sandy Colvin Roy signs.  The sun was shining through the
sign, so we noticed that these are the types of signs where the image
from the other side of the sign bleeds through, so that there is a
reversed ghost image visible behind the main image.

My wife thought this was strange, since she had heard these
"bleed-through" signs were the result of using non-union labor, and we
would expect that Colvin Roy's signs would have been printed in a union
shop.  So I took a look at the sign to show her the union label, and I
couldn't find it.  We both looked, and all we could see was a logo for
Impact Printing, but no union logo.

So, I'd be very surprised to find out that a DFL and labor endorsed
candidate wouldn't use union labor to print her signs, but I'd also be
surprised to find out that a DFL and labor endorsed candidate wouldn't
make sure the union put on their label.  Does anybody know what happened?
