There are several errors in Mr. Nolley's unsigned, semi-grammatical post.
First, these postcards (not pamphlets) came from the Minneapolis DFL party,
as is clearly indicated on the card. I know this, I wrote the checks to
the printer and the Post Office. But I'm sorry if I misspelled Mr.
Zimmermann's name.
Four cards were mailed to that address because 4 people claimed to live
there when voting in the primary. If, as Mr. Nolley says, "there are only
two of us who live here", he should report this voter fraud to the County
Attorney. (Or else Mr. Nolley should stop taking mail that belongs to
other tenants in that apartment building.)
As for "hanging the prostitution issue on Dean Zimmermann's head", people
should remember that we did not create this issue -- Dean Zimmermann did,
when he made these statements. The DFL, who worked hard thru people like
Kathy Thurber & others to successfully close these saunas, is just pointing
out what Dean Zimmermann said: that he wants to undo this success.
As for "slandering" Dean Zimmermann (actually, it would be libel, not
slander -- libel is written, slander is spoken), we believe that the
postcard accurately reports statements made by Dean ZImmermann. The
sources of these statements are listed right on the card. If Mr.
Zimmermann now denies that he made these statements, he is welcome to sue
us in court. (His lawyer, Mr. Kushner is on this list, I believe.)
But I would point that out that earlier posts on this email list
did not deny that he made these statements, they only backpedaled,
claiming that the statements were "taken out of context" and that they were
only brainstorming ideas. (Personally, after the years it took to close
down these dens of prostitution, that someone would, even in brainstorming,
consider the idea of reopening them appalls me.)
Let's forget the distractions of stories about long dead presidents and get
back to dealing with the issues! And this is an issue in the 6th ward. It
happens in the 6th ward, it affects the quality of life in the 6th ward,
and the safety of women in the 6th ward. It's an issue that Dean
Zimmermann brought up! So why doesn't he just talk about the issue?
