Rick Stafford responds: I have hesitated to responding to any of the commentary on the list about the 6th Ward/Sauna debate. Partly because I knew who would be responding and how. Only one individual who I had thought would respond, has not; while the others have. Dean Zimmerman's attorney and supporter, Kushner has caused me to respond. Here is a true example of trying to paint a negative aspect of a campaign with an inaccurate statement attributed to me. Again, they continue their diatribe of another example of negativism by the Kallenbach campaign. I did not say that to Eskit. I did not whisper in his ear. I whispered to him about two feet away, "that I expected that he wouldn't be attending DFL Party functions anymore since he was supporting the Green Party." That's what I said. Kushner and I earlier had a back-and-forth during the endorsement phases of the DFL Party questioning his integrity for still participating in DFL Party endorsing events even though he made it clear he was a supporter of the Green Party and their candidates. Political parties are not about bouncing back and forth for a person's individual personal agenda. Parties are about standing about certain issues and supporting that parties candidates. I would venture to say that Kushner and certain other readers would go berzerk, if a particular candidate stated very pointedly on two different occasion that we should support public financing of a athletic stadium in Minneapolis and then recant it because he/she got caught. Yes, Zimmerman has disavowed the statement, and yes, Lickness and company continue to say they were taken out of context. But, evidently Lickness' ardent primary supporters who were at the meeting are not being truthful. Again, call Carol Pass, Margaret Kirkpatrick, Glory Gloudeman of East Phillips or Rebecca Moyers of Stevens Square, they will tell you point blank THE COMMENTS WERE NOT TAKEN OUT OF CONTEXT AND HE WAS NOT BRAINSTORMING. Yes, the voters of the Sixth Ward will decide. And, the sour grapes of certain individuals who lost in the primary will become evident. Our campaign expected it. And, as a former DFL Party State Chair, I truly see the "real" DFL credentials that certain losing primary "DFL" candidates really had. Shada Buyobe Hammond is the classiest of the bunch. What I feel sorry for are the many Phillips Barb Lickness Primary supporters who know Dean Zimmerman well and who are not supporting him; only to find their primary candidate supporting him against all of their wishes.
