While I do believe that I was countering the post's message in a
critical manner, I realize that I did inadvertantly express a hope that
such posts as the one to which I responded should cease. In expressing my
view of this issue, I may have consequently asked another view to go
away, which certainly was not my intention. To be clearer this time: I
would hope that if posts of this nature continue, others will see
opportunities to raise and further develop arguments against the ideas
espoused in the recent Target post. By all means, without people
voicing diverse stances on issues of corporatization, gentrification, and
the like, others will have no opportunity to counter-point... without
multiple views speaking aloud, a dialogue is impossible.
Apologies to list members who may have been offended when I stated that I
hoped the updates of the downtown Target would end... my intention
wasn't to cease discussion but to get some discussion on this topic moving
in a direction I believe is also list appropriate. Also, thanks to the
list admin for clarification of the rules of the list.
Sincerely,
Brett Stephan

...Brett's objection to the thread is, as he allows, a matter of
taste. If you believe there are more important issues, please, say so on
the list. If you believe corporate/commercial topics are a waste of time,
please hit the delete key (or email the poster offlist and make your case
for ending the thread).
