A few tips for making everyone's list experience better. 1. PLEASE trim the post your are responding to in your own message if you are not referencing direct parts. Not doing so creates longer downloads - a problem for folks with slow connections - and also makes life heck for digest readers, who have to scroll through repeated text to get to the new stuff.
Trim the previous posts! 2. If you wonder why your list messages don't always go through quickly, it's probably because you are sending your messages in a fancy format, such as HTML (that gives you webpage-like styles) or MIME. Our list server holds messages in those formats because they can also transmit viruses. If you want to avoid this problem, send messages "plain text" - most recent email programs offer this option. There's one group that doesn't have the choice: AOL users. Mother AOL only lets you send HTML. One way to avoid this problem is to set up a free e-mail account on Yahoo.com or Email.com, or another free service. You can access it from your AOL browser and set the sending option to "plain text." While this means you don't get list messages in your AOL inbox, this can be a good thing - a de facto filter for Minneapolis-Issues messages in your new free e-mail box. If you don't want to create a new account, keep sending from AOL. I check the list server regularly and shake loose stuck messages - your AOL message is NOT deleted. You just have to wait for me.
