When I got here in 1969, the Foshay Tower was the tallest thing around. Next year the IDS rose up and over the years a whole grand downtown skyline came to be. It was great to take folks on tours through downtown via carriage when the sun lay low in the sky on those long June evenings in the mid-80s and show off the varied architecture of the new buildings. I also liked to drive the rig past the fountain in Loring Park and exchange pleasantries with the fellows hanging out there – a touch of the unknown for my curious passengers and a hoot for the locals.

I really like the farmers’ market on Nicollet Mall. Great prices, good produce, nice people.
