Wow! What an amazing discussion on MPS. And more research
than I've been able to absorb in years. I have a few
questions that people might like to answer:

1. If community schools are not working to close the
learning gap, how do we build a system that enhances
communities where children can walk to school, wait at the
bus with their friends, and strengthen neighborhood
communication and at the same time close the learning gap?

2. If reading doesn't start until first grade, then how do
children who begin reading in preschool or kindergarten get
challenged.

3. North Dakota finished higher than Minnesota in it's
recent 4th and 8th grade testing in math and science I
believe. What can we learn from a neighboring state that
might be able to help us?

4. If teacher efficacy is a major problem in impoverished
schools, what has been done or is being done to address
this?

5. If parent involvement is such a major factor, why do
parent's not sign a contract with the school district to
meet specific goals?

6. What are the top 3 education studies that can actually
address the problems we face with real data and recommended
solutions?

I have a lot more questions, but that's it for now, I'd love
to learn more from all of you experts.

Thanks.
