Why would you be concerned, Mr. Velez? Barbara Johnson has represented the
4th Ward very well and, to the best of my knowledge, is always responsive to
her residents. She has considered the best scenarios for the Ward along with
what is best for the greater city community. As a resident of Shingle Creek
you should already know, in light of the Humboldt Greenway development and
the current visioning of the Humboldt Industrial Park, that your Council
Member has and continues to be a very real presence in the Ward. Barbara
also brings substantial knowledge and experience to a Council with a
majority of newcomers who face the daunting task of dealing with a number of
critical city-wide issues. Besides that, why shouldn't the 4th Ward Council
Member become the Council President?

Subject: [Mpls] North News article on the elections

I'm troubled by Barb Johnson's statement as reported in the North News that
her "first order of business on the new council is her bid for the council
presidency. She's met all the new council members, she added, and has
started campaigning among them." [North news 11/27/2001]

What are Northsiders in her Ward supposed to make out of this? I, for one,
am a little concerned.
