It is sad.  Which is why good teachers are more valuable than gold, and which is why I think they should be screened carefully, but then paid top dollar for what they do.  Teaching is a talent and gift.  Good parenting is, also.  Unfortunately, procreation is an everyday happening, not just given to the gifted.  I do agree that it takes a village to raise a child.  We all must give what we can when we can and where we can, to whom we can.  It's simply an obligation for any of us who care about children, and humanity's future.

I think it is pretty sad when a kindergarten or first grade teacher is held more accountable for the success of a child than the parent or guardian of that child.
